Daniel Wiffen Bio

Daniel Wiffen is Ireland and Northern Ireland's most successful male swimmer, making waves at the Olympic Games, World, and European championships. He proudly holds the title of reigning Olympic champion in the 800m freestyle and secured a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle at the Olympic games in Paris 2024.
Notably, Daniel made history as the first male Irish swimmer to become World Champion, winning both the 800m and 1500m freestyle at the 2024 World Championships. He holds the 800m SC freestyle World Record.  Daniel also won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth games in the 800 freestyle.
A student computer science at Loughborough University, he trains alongside his twin brother Nathan, while also holding multiple Irish swimming records junior and senior for the 4000/800/1500 SC&LC along with the 400IM SC Irish record.
